A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order against the sale of counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs, including Viagra and Cialis, following a US court ruling in the case of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The case was brought by a man who was accused of selling illegal drugs and receiving a substantial amount of the counterfeit drugs from his online pharmacy.

He was sentenced to serve up to six years in federal prison and fined $1.2 million, according to the US Justice Department. The Food and Drug Administration has approved the sale of the drugs and is investigating the case.

The man had claimed that he was an "unconventional," "unlicensed" individual. He was also accused of selling illegal drugs and receiving a large amount of the counterfeit drugs from his online pharmacy, the US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois said.

The judge's ruling was based on the government's showing that consumers who purchase drugs from an online pharmacy in the United States are often more likely to get the drugs from legitimate sources and to purchase the drugs from those who do not pay. The FDA has said it believes that the counterfeit drugs are particularly dangerous.

In May, the US Food and Drug Administration warned that those who purchase drugs online are more likely to get the drugs from "unlicensed sources". The FDA said it is "incorrect" and that it is investigating further.

The man pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to traffic in and selling drugs and a misdemeanor charge of selling the drugs online.

He also received a criminal information under the Food and Drug Act, which gives the FDA broad authority to inspect drugs and other medicines sold online.

The judge said the defendants had offered "substantial assistance" to the defendants in obtaining drugs from their online pharmacy and had made a "good faith effort" to obtain those drugs from the drug sellers.

The US Attorney's Office said that it was "disappointed" in the judgment.

"The court does not believe that the defendants engaged in fraudulent activities," the office said in a statement.

The company had been selling and supplying counterfeit versions of Viagra, Cialis, and the other erectile dysfunction drugs sold online.

A package containing counterfeit Viagra and Cialis was sent to customers in India and other countries. It has been seized by the US FDA, the agency said.

The Food and Drug Administration said the FDA had not approved the sale of the counterfeit drugs because of the safety concerns.

In May, the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York issued a temporary restraining order against the sale of counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs, including Viagra and Cialis.

The order said the drug manufacturers, which sell drugs without a prescription, and distributors, who sell the drugs without a prescription, "are liable to the government for any and all damages resulting from their illegal sale of these drugs."

The judge also ordered that Pfizer, the manufacturer of the counterfeit Viagra, provide "confidential medical information" to the company, and that it would provide all of its customers with "appropriate legal and accounting information" on the counterfeit drugs, including "proprietorship information" and "the date of the sale of the drugs".

Pfizer Inc. said that it was "disappointed" in the judge's decision. It said it was "not surprised" by the court's ruling.

The FDA said it had received "no evidence" and had "not acted in bad faith" in making the drug purchases.

The agency said the sale of the drugs in the United States is illegal, "and we are aware that some of these drugs were purchased from legitimate sources and have not been properly labeled to protect consumers from harm."

The FDA said that its investigation of the matter was ongoing. "As a result, the FDA believes that the defendant is entitled to a reasonable remedy and is not required to show that the defendants are being deceptive. The FDA is committed to providing the consumer with necessary legal and accounting information on the counterfeit drugs," the FDA said in a statement.

The US Food and Drug Administration has said that it has been in discussions with several drug manufacturers about the sale of counterfeit drugs. "We are confident that the information that is contained in this case is adequate, and we expect that it will be."

A Pfizer spokeswoman said: "This matter is being investigated by the FDA as part of a broader investigation.
